In 2005, Chris Vinley started New Leaf Construction. Although culinary school and snowboarding brought him to Colorado Springs, after 15 years in the catering business, he was looking for a change. Since he had a knack for being handy around the house and a keen eye for aesthetics, he picked up a copy of Tiling 1, 2, 3 and a few other books from the library. Never one to be intimidated by what he didn’t know, he offered to do tiling projects and fix-it tasks for friends and neighbors to test out his skills. Turns out that he was good at it. He loved the challenge of solving problems, making things look good, and doing a job that was physical. His next move was apprenticing with a number of experienced contractors.
Over eight years, those contractors introduced Chris to the ins and outs of the renovation and building process. As often as possible, he accepted larger projects that forced his knowledge and expertise to grow—everything from fence building to kitchen and bathroom remodels. In 2010, he received his general contractor’s license.
Since then, New Leaf Construction has been a booming home remodeling and building business that specializes in creative solutions for century-old homes and new builds. Chris and his network of skilled professionals are detail-oriented and hardworking, the key factor in the success of New Leaf Construction.
